The 16CH-RS232/485/422-ETH is a standard 19-inch 1U rackmount serial converter for large-scale SCADA deployments. The device is based on a high-performance ARM9 processor and guarantees the simultaneous operation of all 16 serial ports in full duplex mode with a speed of up to 921.6Kbps without loss of packets.

Built-in 4-Port Ethernet Switch

It has 4 independent 10/100M Ethernet interfaces to ease server rack wiring. These ports also feature integrated switch functionality, so you can easily cascade multiple devices or uplink directly to your core network infrastructure using a single cable.

Versatile Edge Computing Capabilities

Each of the 16 channels can be configured separately as TCP server, TCP client, UDP or UDP multicast node. The device features advanced protocol conversion capabilities, native Modbus RTU to Modbus TCP conversion, and seamless serial data integration directly to Telnet or MQTT/JSON cloud platforms.

Technical FAQ & Troubleshooting

How are the IP addresses assigned for the 16 serial ports?
The device adopts an efficient IP group architecture to save network resource. It uses one IP address for every 8 serial ports. So, to run all 16 channels, you only need two IP addresses for the entire 1U chassis. Each group contains individual serial ports which are identified and accessed by their respective TCP port numbers.
Why are the RS485 interfaces RJ45 ports, and how do I wire them?
RJ45 connectors are used for all physical connections, enabling a high-density 16-port configuration in a 1U panel. When wiring for RS485 you only need to use Pin 6 (485+) and Pin 7 (485-) on the RJ45 connector. We strongly suggest to purchase our optional RJ45 to 2-pin terminal block adapter accessories for ease of installation.
Can I connect this directly to my network without an external Ethernet switch?
Yes. The device includes 4 separate 10M/100M Ethernet interfaces that operate on a built-in switch architecture. You can plug your main uplink into any one of these ports and use the remaining ports to connect other IT equipment or to daisy-chain additional servers.
