Industrial Fiber to Ethernet Converter
Extend Your LAN up to 20km with Zero Signal Degradation
Overcome the 100-meter copper limit. Designed for harsh environments, our industrial fiber to ethernet converter uses single-mode optical fiber to transmit 10/100Base-TX data with absolute EMI immunity. Plug & play operation from -40°C to 85°C.
Engineering Note: WDM & A/B End Pairing
To reduce your fiber cabling costs, the VT-FB800 utilizes Single-Mode Single-Fiber (WDM) technology. This means data is transmitted and received over a single glass strand using different light wavelengths.
Because of this, these devices must be deployed in matched pairs. When ordering, you will select the VT-FB800-A (Transmits at 1310nm) for one side of your link, and the VT-FB800-B (Transmits at 1550nm) for the other side.
Standardized Media Converter Matrix
Direct 10/100Base-TX RJ45 to 100Base-FX optical conversion. No IP configuration required.
| Hardware Series | Ethernet Interface | Optical Interface (WDM Pair) | Distance | Action |

Engineered for the Field
Built from the ground up for industrial OT networks and harsh control cabinets.
Absolute EMI Immunity
Optical fibers do not conduct electricity. Eliminate dropped packets caused by frequency interference from heavy machinery, ground loops, or substation high voltage.
Seamless Auto-Negotiation
Compliant with IEEE802.3 and IEEE802.3u. The RJ45 port automatically adapts to 10M/100M speeds, straight/cross-line wiring (Auto-MDIX), and full/half-duplex flow control.
Broadcast Storm Suppression
Features an efficient built-in exchange kernel designed to suppress broadcast storms and execute CRC error checks, ensuring perfectly stable IP camera streams.
Extreme Operating Range
Protected by a black anti-radiation SECC metal board. Thrives in unventilated outdoor enclosures with a working temperature of -40°C to 85°C and accepts 9~24V DC power.

Can I connect this converter directly to an SFP port on my Cisco/managed switch?
A: Yes, but with one critical requirement. Since the VT-FB800 uses WDM (Single-Fiber) technology, the SFP module installed in your managed switch must be a BiDi (Bidirectional) transceiver that matches the opposite wavelength. For instance, if you install the VT-FB800-A (TX:1310/RX:1550) in the field, your core switch’s SFP module must transmit at 1550nm and receive at 1310nm.
Does the conversion to fiber add latency to industrial protocols like PROFINET or EtherNet/IP?
A: No. The VT-FB800 performs a Layer 1 physical conversion (electrical to optical). The delay introduced is in the microsecond range, which is completely transparent to real-time industrial Ethernet protocols like PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, or Modbus TCP. It functions exactly like a very long, interference-free copper cable.
Is any software configuration or IP address assignment required?
A: None at all. This is an unmanaged media converter. It does not have a MAC address or an IP address, nor does it require a web interface setup. It is 100% plug-and-play. Simply connect the power, RJ45, and SC fiber optic cable, and the network link will auto-negotiate.
What happens if the power fluctuates in the control cabinet?
A: The VT-FB800 is designed for unstable industrial power environments. It supports a wide voltage input range of 9V to 24V DC. Furthermore, its power draw is extremely low (only 165mA at 9V), preventing strain on your cabinet’s power supply. For secure wiring that won’t vibrate loose, you can use the included 5.08mm industrial terminal block instead of the standard DC barrel plug.
