A: No. The device features an advanced Storage-Type Modbus Gateway (Auto query storage type). It actively caches register data from the RTU slaves internally. When your SCADA issues a Modbus TCP request, the gateway replies directly from its high-speed cache within 3 milliseconds. This completely bypasses the slow RS485 baud rate limitations and prevents multi-host data collisions.
A: It is entirely flexible. You can assign a single unified IP address for the entire device (routing traffic via 8 different TCP port numbers), or you can assign a unique, independent IP address to each of the 8 serial ports if your IT department requires strict subnet segregation for different machine zones.
A: You can cascade up to 8 levels of devices in a daisy-chain topology using standard Ethernet cables. This allows you to aggregate up to 64 serial ports (8 devices × 8 ports) back to your control room using only a single uplink switch port, drastically reducing cable clutter inside your distribution cabinet.
A. You can use our free utility, VirCom. It features a built-in “Data Monitor” that captures and displays the hexadecimal payloads flowing through the virtual COM ports in real-time. You can also look at the physical ACT LED on the device. A yellow-blue light physically confirms that the serial port is actively sending data to the Ethernet.
Dual-LAN Cascading: Dual 10/100M Ethernet ports with 2kV surge protection enable engineers to daisy-chain multiple 8-port servers together. This greatly reduces the wiring complexity, and eliminates the need for additional industrial switches in the cabinet.
Advanced Modbus Gateway (Multi-Host): Modbus RTU to Modbus TCP Embedded Protocol Converter Advanced. It uniquely supports multi-host polling, allowing multiple SCADA clients to simultaneously read data from the serial bus without data collisions.
Flexible IP Routing: Build your network the way you want. One unique IP address for all 8 serial ports (distinguished by TCP port numbers) or unique independent IP address for each specific serial port for tight network segregation.
Legacy Protocol Compatibility: Supports baud rates up to 921.6 Kbps with highly configurable data frames (e.g. 7 data bits, 2 stop bits) for seamless integration with legacy, non-standard PLCs and instruments.
