3-in-1 Selectable Serial Interfaces

The 2CH-RS232/485/422-ETH gateway has very flexible connectivity. It features 2 channels, each providing a “3-in-1” hardware design, so the user can choose between RS232, RS485 or RS422 as the physical interface. It operates in full duplex and combines a transparent serial server, Modbus protocol gateway, MQTT edge client and RS232/485/422 to JSON converter in one device.

Dual Ethernet Ports for Simplified Cascading

The device has two 10/100M Ethernet interfaces, which also serve as an integrated network switch, allowing easy daisy-chain cascading. You can daisy-chain multiple serial servers using a standard network cable without having to mount an external industrial switch inside your control cabinet. This greatly reduces wiring complexity and hardware cost.

Flexible Installation & Power Options

It’s designed for industrial deployment, with a ruggedized metal chassis and support for desktop screw-hole mounting. Input power can be either industrial terminal block wiring or standard 5.5mm round hole DC adapter. 9~24V DC wide voltage input tolerance, stable performance in various industrial power environments.

Technical FAQ & Troubleshooting

Why does the RS232 port look like an Ethernet (RJ45) jack on the diagram?
To maintain an ultra-compact chassis footprint while offering 3-in-1 interface capabilities, the physical RS232 pins are routed through the modular RJ45 socket instead of a bulky standard DB9 connector. To connect standard RS232 equipment (like a PLC or PC), you simply use the optional RJ45-to-DB9 adapter cable.
Can I wire an RS232 device and an RS485 device to Channel 1 at the same time?
Nope. Both channels are “3-in-1 selectables”. For any single channel (i.e. Channel 1) you can physically wire and use only one interface type (either RS232, RS485 or RS422) at a time. However you can mix types across the two channels (eg Channel 1 is RS232, Channel 2 is RS485).
How does the Dual Ethernet design help with my control panel wiring?
The two 10/100M Ethernet ports are built-in unmanaged switch. This allows you to daisy chain (cascade) a number of serial servers in series with each other with standard Ethernet patch cables. You don’t need to install a separate industrial network switch inside your panel, you simply pass the network connection from one unit to the next, saving space and component costs.
