1. Extensive Network Protocol Support: Functions as a TCP server (supporting 30 connections) and TCP client (supporting 7 targets), with full UDP and multicast support, ideal for building SCADA and remote monitoring systems.
2. Highly Configurable Serial Interface: Offers a wide baud rate range from 300 to 921600 bps, with flexible data bit, stop bit, and parity settings to ensure compatibility with virtually any RS232/RS485 serial device.
3. Advanced Device Management: Supports MAC address reporting upon connection for streamlined cloud platform management. It also enables remote device discovery, configuration, and firmware upgrades via the cloud.
4. Developer-Friendly Tools: Includes a PC configuration utility and a DLL development library for secondary development, facilitating seamless IoT system integration.
5. Simplified Network Configuration: Offers a built-in Web browser configuration interface, supporting DHCP for dynamic IP acquisition and custom DNS settings for easy setup.
6. Real-Time Connection Monitoring: Allows for remote monitoring of TCP link status and serial data traffic through software, with virtual serial port support for advanced data analysis.
7. Zero-Delay Modbus Polling: Built-in “Storage Modbus Gateway” caches register data locally, drastically reducing cloud polling latency to under 3ms and eliminating RS485 bus bottlenecks.
Stop gambling with consumer-grade routers in harsh industrial environments. The VT-DTU series provides the absolute reliability your project demands. [Contact Our Engineering Team for Topology Advice]
A: The VT-DTU series supports standard industrial tunneling protocols like IPsec, OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP. For typical SCADA telemetry, such as Modbus RTU or MQTT payloads, the encryption is performed by the embedded processor with negligible latency impact (typically <20ms). It is fully optimized for 4G LTE bandwidth, so your remote PLCs and sensors stay highly responsive and securely encapsulated in the VPN tunnel.
A: Yes. One of the most common issues with cheap gateways is RS485 bus collisions when multiple masters poll simultaneously. The VT-DTU features Multi-Host Polling support. It intelligently queues and schedules concurrent Modbus TCP requests from up to 7 different cloud platforms or local servers, delivering the responses sequentially without crashing the RS485 end devices.
A: Besides the hardware watchdog, the router also uses ICMP Keep-Alive (Active Ping Testing). You can have the router always ping a stable public IP (such as 8.8.8.8). If a hard set number of pings fail (a “zombie” cellular connection where the signal is there, but the data doesn’t flow) the router will automatically tear down the interface and force a new dial-up for true zero touch recovery.
A: Yes, the cellular modules inside our regional variants carry global and regional certifications (including CE, FCC, and PTCRB). They are unlocked and function with any standard IoT data SIM.
