What happens to the relay outputs if the 4G LTE connection drops?
You can set the relay (DO) to remember its last position or automatically go to a predefined “Safe State” (like shutting down a pump) when network communication is lost. The built-in hardware watchdog will continuously attempt to dial and reconnect in the background until the 4G link is restored.
Does the RS485 port only serve to configure the module, or can it collect data?
The built-in RS485 port acts as an active Modbus RTU serial server. You can daisy-chain third-party RS485 devices (like power meters or VFDs) to it, allowing you to remotely control or poll data from those serial devices over the 4G cellular network.
How do I configure the 8CH-IO-LTE remotely?
In addition to local configuration via RS485 port, the module can also be configured remotely by cellular network using some AT commands or through Modbus parameter registers, if remote management is enabled.
