Optimize Your Siemens Architecture

Don’t waste IT budget on managed switches when setting up standard S7-1200 or S7-1500 machine cells. Our Unmanaged PROFINET switches execute QoS perfectly for Conformance Class A networks, saving you configuration time and hardware costs.

Unmanaged PROFINET Switch Network Topology with Siemens PLC
PROFINET QoS Priority

Built-in Quality of Service (QoS) identifies PROFINET Real-Time (RT) frames and prioritizes them over standard TCP/IP traffic, ensuring your I/O modules never drop connection.

Zero TIA Portal Configuration

True plug-and-play. Because it operates transparently at Layer 2, there is no need to import GSDML files or assign IP/MAC addresses in your engineering software.

Jumbo Frame Support

Gigabit models support massive 9Kbyte Jumbo Frames, allowing heavy SCADA diagnostic data to flow seamlessly without clogging the real-time control bus.

Valtoris 8-Port Gigabit PROFINET Switch
Non-Polarity Wide Voltage

Dual DC9~60V or AC24V inputs with reverse-connection protection. Panel builders can wire it up blindly without fearing polarity burnouts.

Level 4 EMC Immunity

Heavy-duty electrical shielding protects internal logic from massive EMI/RFI noise generated by nearby Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) inside the cabinet.

IP40 Aluminum Armor

Fanless, corrugated aluminum alloy housing provides superior passive heat dissipation, guaranteeing stable operation from -40°C to +75°C.

Network Demystified

Why Unmanaged is Enough for 90% of PROFINET RT

Many engineers mistakenly believe PROFINET requires an expensive Managed Switch. The truth? For PROFINET Conformance Class A (CC-A) running standard RT (Real-Time) cycle times of 1ms~10ms, an unmanaged switch with IEEE 802.1p QoS is the exact industry standard. Save your budget for the PLC.

What Our Clients Say

Real-world reliability verified by field systems integrators.

Saved Us Thousands in Hardware

“I used to buy expensive managed SCALANCE switches for each and every basic I/O panel just because they said ‘PROFINET’ on the box. Switching to Valtoris unmanaged models saved us 60% on our panel costs and TIA Portal handles the RT data perfectly via QoS.”

— Robert K., Lead Electrical Controls Engineer
True Plug and Play

“I love that I don’t have to assign IP addresses or mess with GSDML files for the switch itself. We just pop the VT-SW8GPN onto the DIN rail, plug in the S7-1200 and the Festo drives, and the network is instantly up and running.”

— Ian M., Field Automation Technician

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this switch appear visually in TIA Portal’s graphical ‘Topology View’ diagnostics?

No. TIA Portal’s graphical Topology View relies on LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) agent packets generated strictly by Managed switches. Because our unmanaged Layer 2 switches pass LLDP frames through transparently without injecting their own MAC agent data, TIA Portal will show your Siemens PLC connected directly to your end I/O module. It treats the Valtoris switch as a completely invisible, zero-latency Ethernet wire.

Does this switch pass through Siemens DCP broadcast packets used for ‘Assign IP via MAC’ scanning?

Yes, absolutely. The switch provides full, unblocked Layer 2 broadcast forwarding. When you click ‘Accessible Devices’ or ‘Assign device name’ in TIA Portal or STEP 7, the DCP discovery broadcasts pass instantly across all RJ45 ports. This allows field technicians to discover and commission virgin, out-of-the-box PROFINET IO slaves directly through the switch.

If I daisy-chain multiple switches, will accumulated latency trigger a PROFINET Bus Fault (BF LED)?

No. The VT-SW series provides deterministic internal store-and-forward latency of less than 10μs (microseconds) per hop on Gigabit models. Cascading 5 switches in a series adds less than 0.05ms to the total line jitter. The accumulated delay is still far below the Siemens watchdog timeout, provided your TIA Portal IO cycle “Send Clock” is 1.0ms or 2.0ms (standard).

Can I use these unmanaged switches for PROFINET IRT (Isochronous Real-Time) motion control?

No. PROFINET IRT bypasses the standard Ethernet MAC table entirely and relies on specialized hardware ASIC chips to force time-scheduled synchronization (< 1ms cycle times). Our unmanaged switches execute PROFINET RT (Real-Time) via QoS prioritization. This is the exact engineering standard for 90% of standard factory automation, remote ET200SP I/O drops, VFD speed polling, and process instrumentation.
