Technical FAQ & Troubleshooting

Does the 8CH-HUB-RS485 support protocol conversion?
No. This device is a pure physical layer (OSI Layer 1) active signal repeater and splitter. It ensures zero-latency transparent transmission but does not convert protocols. The master and all 8 slave branches must operate using the exact same protocol (e.g., Modbus RTU) and baud rate.
How many total devices can I connect to this 8-port hub?
Each of the 8 isolated RS485 slave ports acts as its own independent bus segment and can support up to 32 nodes. Therefore, a single 8CH-HUB-RS485 can theoretically aggregate signals from up to 256 end devices (8 branches × 32 nodes) back to your single master controller.
Where should I place the 120Ω termination resistors?
In a star topology enabled by this hub, you are creating 8 distinct RS485 networks. You only need to place a 120Ω termination resistor at the very last device on each of the active branches. The hub internally manages the termination on its side.
