Do I need to buy two identical units to establish a link?
No. Because the VT-FB800 uses single-mode single-fiber technology to save cable costs, you must use them in A/B pairs. For example, a VT-FB800-A unit on one end must connect to a VT-FB800-B unit on the other end. Two identical units (A-to-A or B-to-B) cannot communicate.
What type of optical fiber is required, and what is the maximum distance?
