Q1: Since the VT-ZIGBEE700 lacks an Ethernet port, how do I configure the network IDs and baud rates?

A: The device has a dedicated hardware “Config” switch (DIP switch). Simply switch the device into configuration mode and connect it to your PC using a standard RS232 or USB-to-RS485 adapter. Then you can easily configure your operating modes, channels and baud rates using our free Zigbee Configuration Tool for Windows.

Q2: Will standard 2.4G factory Wi-Fi networks interfere with this Zigbee serial data?

Q: Nah. The VT-ZIGBEE700 employs advanced DSSS (Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum) technology and 16 selectable independent channels, even though it operates in the 2.4GHz band. Pick a channel that does not overlap with the frequencies your local Wi-Fi is using and you are guaranteed no cross-talk and perfect data integrity.

Q3: Can I connect multiple VT-ZIGBEE700 nodes to a single RS485 master PLC?

A: Yeah. You can easily configure a Point-to-Multipoint (Star) or Mesh topology by setting up one node as the “Center Node” (Master) and the other nodes as remote nodes. The polling requests of the PLC will be transparently broadcasted by the master node and the addressed slave node will reply, emulating a traditional wired RS485 daisy-chain over the air.
