Q1: Since the VT-ZIGBEE700 lacks an Ethernet port, how do I configure the network IDs and baud rates?

A: The device has a dedicated hardware ā€œConfigā€ switch (DIP switch). Simply switch the device into configuration mode and connect it to your PC using a standard RS232 or USB-to-RS485 adapter. Then you can easily configure your operating modes, channels and baud rates using our free Zigbee Configuration Tool for Windows.

Q2: Will standard 2.4G factory Wi-Fi networks interfere with this Zigbee serial data?

Q: Nah. The VT-ZIGBEE700 employs advanced DSSS (Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum) technology and 16 selectable independent channels, even though it operates in the 2.4GHz band. Pick a channel that does not overlap with the frequencies your local Wi-Fi is using and you are guaranteed no cross-talk and perfect data integrity.

Q3: Can I connect multiple VT-ZIGBEE700 nodes to a single RS485 master PLC?

A: Yeah. You can easily configure a Point-to-Multipoint (Star) or Mesh topology by setting up one node as the ā€œCenter Nodeā€ (Master) and the other nodes as remote nodes. The polling requests of the PLC will be transparently broadcasted by the master node and the addressed slave node will reply, emulating a traditional wired RS485 daisy-chain over the air.
