Power & Data over a Single Cable (IEEE 802.3af/at)

The VT-SW5P-4TPOE comes with 4 x IEEE 802.3af/at compliant 10/100Mbps PoE+ ports. It transmits network data and power (up to 30W per port, total 120W) over one ethernet cable, ideal for IP cameras, wireless access points and sensors.

PoE Data and Power transmission

Ruggedized for Harsh Environments (-40°C to +75°C)

This switch is designed for tough industrial environments with an IP40 rated metal case and a fanless heat dissipation design. It offers a reliable data transfer over an operating temperature range of -40°C to +75°C.

Industrial wide temperature operation

Redundant Power & EMC Protection

The unit has dual DC48-57V redundant power inputs via a 5-pin terminal block. Internal circuitry includes Level 3 ESD and Level 2 Surge protection to reduce interference in high-EMI industrial environments.

Is a 100Mbps uplink sufficient for four IP cameras, or do I need Gigabit?
100Mbps is more than enough. This is a common concern but mathematically a modern 4K IP camera using H.265 compression needs only approximately 4 to 8 Mbps of bandwidth. Even with all 4 ports driving 4K cameras your total aggregate traffic will be less than 35Mbps. This switch is a very cost effective and reliable choice for standard CCTV topologies with the 100Base-T(X) uplink handling this with zero bottleneck.
Does the 5th Uplink port provide PoE power? Will it damage my NVR?
No PoE on the uplink, your NVR is completely safe. The VT-SW5P-4TPOE is designed with four dedicated PoE+ downlink ports and one data-only uplink port. This physical isolation ensures that no voltage is ever pushed to your upstream Network Video Recorder (NVR), core router, or PC, protecting your expensive infrastructure from accidental damage.
Why is a DC 52V-57V power supply recommended when the switch accepts 48V?
This is to combat Voltage Drop over long distances. While the switch board itself functions perfectly at DC 48V, copper Ethernet cables have physical resistance. If you run a cable close to the 100-meter limit to power a heavy-draw device (like a PTZ camera with active IR/heaters), the voltage at the far end will be significantly lower than 48V. Supplying a 52V or 57V input at the switch gives your edge devices the power needed to adhere to the IEEE 802.3at standard and prevent unpredictable camera reboots.
